## About Kołbaskowo – Pomellen

Kołbaskowo–Pomellen is the crossing at the end of the A6 motorway, south-west of Szczecin. On the German side the road becomes the A11 autobahn, which runs straight to Berlin, making this the main link between Szczecin and Brandenburg and Berlin. The crossing handles cars in both directions, but throughout the week it also carries a great many trucks, both port traffic from Szczecin and through transit.

Since Poland joined Schengen there has been no routine clearance on this border, but as of September 2026 a period of temporary controls is in force: Germany has run them since October 2023, Poland since July 2025. Selected vehicles are stopped, and on the motorway that usually means lane closures, some cars being directed into a car park and slower progress. Drivers who do not need the motorway can consider the nearby local crossing at Rosówek–Rosow or Lubieszyn–Linken north-west of Szczecin; for Schwedt, Krajnik Dolny is often more convenient.
