## About Kostrzyn nad Odrą – Keitz

The crossing at Kostrzyn nad Odrą takes a bridge over the Oder into Küstrin-Kietz in Brandenburg. Kostrzyn sits where the Warta flows into the Oder, and on the German side the road continues through Seelow towards Berlin. The crossing is open to cars in both directions and is used mainly by people from Kostrzyn, Gorzów Wielkopolski and the surrounding area, as well as by those travelling to and from the German capital at weekends. For many of them it is the most convenient route because it avoids the busy A2 motorway corridor.

Poland and Germany are both in the Schengen area, so crossing the bridge normally involves no stop. Bear in mind, though, that both countries are currently running temporary controls on their shared border – Poland has extended its checks, for now until 30 March 2027, and Germany has been checking traffic since autumn 2023 – so some vehicles are stopped for inspection, usually a little way past the bridge. The Polish Border Guard and the Bundespolizei publish the current picture. Carry an identity document. German motorways are free for cars, but between Kostrzyn and Berlin you mostly drive on ordinary roads.

Kostrzyn is worth considering when there is a long line at Świecko or when you are heading for the eastern districts of Berlin. On Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings it gets busier here too, as regular commuters favour the route. The alternatives are Krajnik Dolny–Schwedt to the north and the town crossing at Słubice–Frankfurt (Oder) to the south. Compare their current state with the live board on this page.
