## About Krajnik Dolny – Schwedt

Krajnik Dolny lies in the Chojna municipality of Gryfino county, and the crossing takes a bridge over the Oder to Schwedt/Oder in Brandenburg's Uckermark. Schwedt is a sizeable industrial town and also a gateway to the lower Oder valley, an area valued for its wildlife, with a national park on the German side. The crossing is open to cars in both directions and serves mainly residents of Chojna and nearby villages, people who work in Schwedt, and cyclists and nature lovers visiting the floodplains.

This is part of an internal Schengen border where documents are not systematically checked. Both countries are, however, currently using their right to reintroduce controls temporarily – Germany since October 2023, Poland since July 2025, and as of September 2026 both regimes are still in force – so a patrol may stop a car at random on this bridge too. Look at the current Polish Border Guard and Bundespolizei announcements before setting off. Take a passport or ID card with you whatever the purpose of the trip. Cars pay nothing to use motorways in Germany.

Traffic on the bridge follows an everyday rhythm: towards workplaces in the morning, back in the afternoon, with outings and shopping added at weekends. In spring and summer, when people head out to the Oder, it can get a little busier. If your destination is closer to Szczecin or the A11, Kołbaskowo–Pomellen or Rosówek–Rosow is usually the better option, and for Berlin from the south there is Kostrzyn nad Odrą. Current times are on the live board.
