## About Olszyna – Forst

Olszyna–Forst is the A18 motorway crossing on the Lusatian Neisse in the western part of the Lubusz region. On the German side the road becomes the A15, which runs past Cottbus to a junction with the A13, from where Berlin is not far – and Dresden in the other direction. The crossing handles cars in both directions and is the natural choice for drivers from Wrocław, the Opole region and Upper Silesia heading to Berlin, Hamburg or northern Germany, as well as for a very large number of trucks.

The Polish-German border is an internal Schengen border, but temporary controls are in force on it at present (as of September 2026): German checks since October 2023 and Polish ones since 7 July 2025, currently extended until 30 March 2027. Motorway crossings like this one are a natural place for them, although only selected vehicles are checked, often in a car park or at an exit some way from the border. In a heavy jam, drivers bound for Dresden can use the A4 and the Jędrzychowice–Ludwigsdorf crossing, while those coming from Poznań towards Berlin are better served by Świecko.
