## About Przewóz – Podrosche

Przewóz is a small village in Żary county on the Lusatian Neisse, in a wooded stretch of the borderland. Its bridge leads to Podrosche, part of the Saxon municipality of Krauschwitz in the Görlitz district. The crossing is open to cars in both directions and is purely local: it is used by people from nearby villages, cyclists on the riverside Neisse route and drivers who want a shortcut between Żary and the northern part of Upper Lusatia instead of detouring via the larger crossings.

Legally the same rules apply here as along the whole German border: it is an internal Schengen border with no routine passport control. At present, however, the shared border is covered by temporarily reintroduced controls – German since 2023 and Polish since July 2025, still in force in September 2026 – and at small crossings they look different from motorway checks: usually random patrols that pull over individual cars, sometimes a little way from the bridge.
