## About Zasieki – Forst-Ost

Zasieki lies in the Brody municipality of Żary county, on the eastern bank of the Lusatian Neisse, directly opposite Forst (Lausitz) in Brandenburg. The crossing takes a bridge straight into the town, known for its large rose garden, and is open to cars in both directions. It is used mainly by people from the surrounding villages, those who work in Forst, and cyclists – it is a local crossing rather than a transit route.

Crossing at Zasieki means passing an internal Schengen border, where documents are not routinely checked. That does not mean there are no checks at all, though: in September 2026 both countries are still running temporary controls on the Polish-German border (Germany since 2023, Poland since July 2025), and their intensity and locations change from day to day – only selected vehicles are stopped. Before travelling, read the police and Border Guard announcements and take a passport or ID card. If you are driving anything larger than a car, check in advance for any vehicle restrictions on the bridge.

For longer journeys the nearby A18 motorway and the Olszyna–Forst crossing, which leads onto the A15 towards Cottbus and Berlin, are far more convenient.
