Yagodyn: Ukrainian border-guard shift change at the Ukrainian–Polish border — when and how long to wait

Border guard shift change on the Ukrainian side of Yagodyn happens twice a day — at 08:00 and 20:00 local time. These are regular shifts that ensure continuous border control.

During shift change, processing of of cars at Yagodyn typically slows for 20–60 minutes. To minimize wait, plan to cross 30+ minutes before or 60+ minutes after the approximate shift change. Check the live queue above for current status.

At the neighboring Poland checkpoint the border-guard shift change happens at the same local times, but Poland is on Central European Time — one hour behind Kyiv — so there it falls around 07:00 and 19:00 Kyiv time. Because the two shifts overlap, the slowdown stretches into wider windows on both sides: roughly 07:00–08:30 in the morning and 19:00–20:30 in the evening (Kyiv time). During these intervals, processing on both sides can noticeably slow down.

User Reviews — 3.0/5 (1 reviews)

Based on the review for id_1 checkpoint, a significant operational restriction has been reported regarding vehicle access. A user confirmed through direct contact with the State Border Guard Service that Yagodyn checkpoint is currently not accepting passenger cars. This represents an important barrier for regular travelers and suggests the crossing point has limited operational capacity for certain vehicle categories. The information was obtained from official authorities, lending credibility to the restriction and indicating this is likely an official policy rather than a temporary issue. Travelers planning to use id_1 should verify current operational status before departure, as vehicle acceptance policies may significantly impact route planning. The review emphasizes the critical importance of contacting border authorities beforehand to confirm which vehicle types are currently permitted. Those with passenger cars should consider alternative crossing points until the checkpoint resumes normal operations.
